1.4.2

Just in time for Halloween, Derpcraft has now been updated to a beta build of Bukkit! It is now running 1.4.2. Since it is in fact a beta build, there may be a few bugs with it. However, it should still run fairly smoothly. If anyone has any issues with it, please report the bugs to me. Thanks, and enjoy the update!

Due to the rapid release of preview builds for the impending 1.4 update, we are unable to guarantee that we’ll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.4.2. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.4 preview was made available to the public, each new preview build leads to delays in our update process as we, essentially, need to start over with each one.

Event - Zombie Invasion #1 - Friday 11:00PM EST

Event - Zombie Invasion #1 - Friday 11:00PM EST

Finally, Derpcraft events have returned! This Friday we will be having a zombie invasion event. It will be similar to how Nazi Zombies in Call of Duty only without the ability to repair damaged walls. Zombies will be able to break down any block in their way to make it to the player. The object of the game is to be the last survivor in the house. Players will be able to collect emeralds to be able to access secret rooms within the house which will contain item upgrades. Players must use teamwork to be able to survive the longest amount of time. Keep in mind, once you’re dead, you stay dead.

This will hopefully be the first Zombie Invasion event amongst many. Stay tuned for future events and keep this one marked on your calendar!

Animal rules updated

  • Players can own a maximum of eighty animals in one location. Players can have multiple farms but they cannot be located within fifteen chunks of each other. This applies to any passive animal including cows, wolves, chickens, golems etc.
  • Players can only have a maximum of twenty chickens. Regardless of how many animals players have on the server, they may only have a maximum of twenty chickens because of how often the chickens lay eggs.
  • Players with farms within 200 blocks of the town can only have fifty. This does not apply to players who already have farms in the town, but it does apply to people looking to open a farm in it.

New rules regarding animals

After having a few issues with animals on the server, I’ve decided to place limits on how many animals someone can own at a given time. I’m going to try and make it as simple as this:

  • Players can own a maximum of fifty animals on the server. This applies to any passive animal including cows, wolves, chickens, golems etc.
  • Players can only have a maximum of ten chickens. Regardless of how many animals players have on the server, they may only have a maximum of ten chickens because of how often the chickens lay eggs.
  • Players may no longer have farms within 200 blocks of the town. This does not apply to players who already have farms in the town, but it does apply to people looking to open a farm in it.

Because of these limits, I will be decreasing the amount of hunger loss that players experience. I was going to increase mob loot, but I cannot find a suitable plugin for the server. If you are currently above the animal limit, you do not have to kill your animals unless I approach you about it. For anyone newly going above this limit, I reserve the right to place a lava bucket in your farm or temporarily ban you from the server. Animals are the reason that the server has been lagging as of late, so non-compliance to this rule can cause the server experience to be damaged for everyone.

Derpcraft is updated to 1.3!

Derpcraft has been updated to Minecraft 1.3. You’ll find that the world has changed significantly; the continent is now floating above a brand new world. Monsters appear on the surface of the world below ours so, be prepared. Anyhow, we’re running a development version of Bukkit (inb4 the world gets corrupted) so be aware that there will be a few hiccups in the coming days! As always, if you find a bug, please report them to me!

With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we’ll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we’ll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we’ll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we’ve done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

-EvilSeph of the Bukkit Project

Basically, Derpcraft will not be updated until the update for Bukkit comes out. Please be patient.

Nether

The Nether has been regenerated so a new Nether world has taken over. This means that it is generated in a completely different way from the last and any structures or items left there are now lost. This will also be done when the 1.3 update is released so please be aware of that.
